Who Can Apply
To be eligible for the Seán MacBride Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Namibian citizen currently living in Namibia
- Have at least two years of professional experience relevant to their chosen field of study
- Be employed in one of the following ministries:
- Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation
- Ministry of Justice (including Judiciary)
- Ministry of Defense
- Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Protection
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, with at least a 3.0 GPA (or Second Class Honours, Upper Division). Applicants with a lower grade may still be considered if they possess significant relevant experience.
- The degree must have been awarded in or before 2014.
- Must not already hold or be enrolled in a postgraduate program.
- Must be prepared to begin a new master’s program in Ireland by August 2026.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential and a genuine commitment to advancing Namibia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Exhibit a desire to build professional and cultural ties with Ireland.
- Select three relevant master’s programs from the official Directory of Eligible Programs (Sections C and D).
- Meet all academic and English language proficiency requirements for the chosen programs.
- Must not have applied more than once to the Ireland Fellows Programme in previous years.
- Be ready to fully commit to the fellowship during the 2026–2027 academic year.
