Applications are now open for the Seán MacBride Fellowship 2026–2027, offered under the prestigious Ireland Fellows Programme.

This opportunity is designed for emerging leaders and professionals who have demonstrated strong potential and a commitment to contributing to their country’s progress. Selected candidates will pursue a one-year master’s degree in Ireland, with all costs fully covered by the fellowship.

The fellowship celebrates the legacy of Seán MacBride, who served as Ireland’s Minister for External Relations and played a key role in promoting global peace and justice. His work as UN High Commissioner for Namibia during its independence process left an enduring mark on international diplomacy.

Through this fellowship, the Government of Ireland, via its Department of Foreign Affairs and Embassy in Lusaka, seeks to honor MacBride’s legacy while deepening Ireland’s partnership with Namibia.

This year, one fellowship position is dedicated exclusively to Namibian professionals pursuing studies related to international relations, law, human rights, or conflict resolution.

Why This Fellowship Stands Out

The Seán MacBride Fellowship offers more than just academic funding—it’s a life-changing journey designed to nurture global thinkers and problem-solvers.

Benefits include:

  • Full payment of tuition and academic fees
  • Coverage of international travel costs
  • Free accommodation for the entire study period
  • A living allowance to cover daily expenses throughout the academic year

This level of support ensures that fellows can focus entirely on their studies, community engagement, and personal growth during their stay in Ireland.
